Bone Density

Bone Density Testing

  • Osteoporosis screening using the most advanced peripheral bone measurement density equipment. This compact, easily transportable unit provides quick, easy assessment of bone density at the heel in just a few seconds.
  • A safe, radiation-free modality that provides precise quantitative assessment of skeletal status, useful in identifying patients at risk of developing osteoporosis and for assessing their risk of future fracture.
  • A useful tool for developing a care plan for new admits as the results may predict a resident’s propensity for falls inside the facility.
  • Bone density results are calculated automatically and instantly printed in a comprehensive report with precise bone density measurement in grams per square centimeter. A graph is produced which compares the patient's bone density against a reference population.
  • Reimbursed by Medicare under CPT Code 76977 (ultrasound bone density measurement).
  • Test must be ordered by qualified personnel or physician. Standing order upon admissions and qualifying criteria is acceptable.
  • Services available in select areas only. Contact PPX to learn if this service is available in your area.
